Handmade Smelt Rig 80cm 4 Hooks Size 10 Glow-in-the-Dark Oats Lures

Handmade Smelt Rig is a Lithuanian-made, hand-tied smelt fishing system designed for anglers targeting smelt through the ice or in open water. Built around a proven four-hook configuration, this rig combines bright glow-in-the-dark oats lures with sharp Fudo hooks and a high-quality main line to create a presentation that smelt find difficult to resist.

The rig features four oats-style lures that are popular among smelt anglers for their compact profile and effective movement in the water. Each lure is finished with a bright glow-in-the-dark coating, making the rig highly visible in low-light conditions, under ice, or during dusk and dawn sessions when smelt are most active. The luminous finish helps the lures stand out and can improve bite detection in dark or coloured water.

Each lure is fitted with a sharp Fudo hook in size 10, a hook size well suited to smelt and other small predatory fish. The hooks are tied to a high-quality line that has been selected for reliability and knot strength, giving anglers confidence when a fish takes the bait. The complete system is assembled by hand, ensuring consistent hook spacing and a neat, tangle-resistant presentation.

The rig includes a swivel with a snap link for attaching a weight. This allows anglers to quickly change sinkers to suit different depths, currents, or fishing conditions without retying the rig. The swivel also helps reduce line twist, which is particularly useful when fishing with lures that spin or flutter in the water.

With a total system length of 80 cm, this smelt rig offers a good balance between reach and control. The length allows the lures to sit naturally in the water while remaining manageable when lowering through an ice hole or casting from a pier. The four-hook setup increases the chances of hooking multiple fish during a productive session.

This rig is suitable for ice fishing and open-water smelt fishing from shore, pier, or boat. It is particularly effective when smelt are feeding in schools and respond to small, bright, moving lures. The glow-in-the-dark feature makes it a strong choice for night fishing or fishing in murky conditions.

Whether you are a seasoned smelt angler or trying the species for the first time, this handmade rig offers a ready-to-fish solution with quality components. The combination of luminous oats lures, sharp Fudo hooks, and a reliable swivel snap makes it a practical addition to any smelt angler's tackle box.
