Major Craft Finetail Salmon 2.99m 10-28g Spinning Rod FSX-982M/SALMON

Major Craft Finetail Salmon is a high-quality spinning rod developed through collaboration between professional Lithuanian spinning anglers and one of the largest rod manufacturers not only in Japan but worldwide. The result is a rod specifically adapted for fishing the salmon of our region. Major Craft received a request to create a rod similar to the legendary St. Croix Avid, with certain improvements while retaining the same action and fish-playing characteristics. The Major Craft engineers succeeded brilliantly.

The Finetail Salmon is built on an incredibly well-balanced, medium-fast action, semi-parabolic blank. This action profile offers a forgiving yet responsive feel, allowing the rod to load smoothly during the cast and absorb the powerful runs of strong fish. The semi-parabolic bend helps maintain consistent pressure on the hook hold, reducing the risk of hooks pulling during aggressive head shakes and surges.

The blank is fitted with large-diameter Fuji K-type guides. These guides are designed to reduce line friction and help minimise the risk of the line wrapping around the tip, particularly when using braided lines in windy conditions. The larger guide rings also assist with smooth line flow during long casts and when playing fish at close range.

A comfortable cork handle provides a warm, secure grip even in cold, wet weather. The handle is paired with a modern, closed-thread reel seat that keeps the reel firmly in place while offering a clean, streamlined profile. The overall balance of the rod makes it pleasant to fish with for extended sessions, whether you are working a lure steadily or imparting action with the rod tip.

The rod's construction allows for easy, effortless casting of lures within its 10–28 g casting weight range. The blank stores energy efficiently and releases it smoothly, helping lures fly straight and far. This makes the Finetail Salmon particularly effective when covering large stretches of water where long, accurate casts are essential.

This model is ideally suited to working not only with wobblers and crankbaits but also with spoons and spinners. Its medium-fast, semi-parabolic action makes it a versatile tool for a range of predator and migratory fish applications where a responsive yet forgiving rod is required.
