Shimano Kairiki 8+ Braided Fishing Line 150m 8 Strand PE Green Japan

Shimano Kairiki 8+ is a premium eight-strand braided fishing line developed for anglers who demand outstanding strength, smooth handling and long-term reliability. Building on the reputation of the Kairiki range, the 8+ version uses an improved coating and construction to deliver consistent performance across a wide range of fishing situations.

The line features an upgraded coating based on Toyobo Izanas SF600 material. This advanced fibre construction is designed to combine high tensile strength with a remarkably smooth surface, helping the line perform reliably during demanding sessions. The result is a braid that feels refined on the reel and works efficiently through the rod guides.

A silicone-based outer layer reduces friction as the line travels through the guides and across the water surface. Lower friction supports longer, smoother casts and helps the line settle neatly back onto the spool when retrieved. This improved line management is particularly useful when fishing at distance or in windy conditions, where poor line control can quickly become frustrating.

The improved material also delivers a bright, long-lasting colour. Colour retention matters on a braided line because it helps you track the line visually, judge the angle of the line in the water and detect subtle movements that may indicate a take. A line that keeps its colour for longer remains easier to read throughout the season.

Shimano designed the Kairiki 8+ to address two of the most common complaints anglers have with braid: tangling and poor abrasion resistance. The refined coating and eight-strand construction work together to reduce the tendency for the line to twist and tangle, while the tougher surface helps it cope with contact against rocks, snags and other abrasive structure.

With eight strands in the weave, the line offers a rounder profile than simpler braids. A rounder braid tends to sit more evenly on the spool, casts more smoothly and produces less noise through the guides. It is a practical choice for lure fishing, spinning, feeder and general coarse fishing where a reliable, smooth-running main line is essential.

The line is supplied on a 150 m spool and is available in a range of diameters to suit different tactics and target species. The green colour provides good visibility above the water while remaining reasonably discreet in the water. Whether you are targeting perch, pike, zander or carp, choosing the correct diameter allows you to balance strength, casting distance and presentation.

Available diameters and approximate breaking strains:

0.06 mm – 2.7 kg
0.10 mm – 3.6 kg
0.13 mm – 4.5 kg
0.16 mm – 6.8 kg
0.19 mm – 8.2 kg
0.20 mm – 9.1 kg

For anglers looking for a dependable braided main line that combines strength, smooth casting and improved durability, the Shimano Kairiki 8+ is a strong all-round option.
