Handmade Smelt Rig 6 Hooks Size 8 Glow Avižėlė Lure 1.5m Baltic Smelt Fishing

Handmade Smelt Rig is a specialist terminal rig produced in Lithuania for targeting smelt through the ice and in open water. Built entirely by hand, it combines a proven six-hook configuration with luminous attractor bodies and sharp Fudo hooks, giving anglers a ready-to-fish system that is equally effective for competitive smelt fishing and recreational sessions on cold northern waters.

The rig is tied on high-quality line selected for its knot strength and reliability in low temperatures. Each of the six hooks is dressed with a popular avižėlė-style attractor body, a small elongated lure shape widely used in Baltic smelt fishing because it mimics the tiny prey that smelt feed on. The bodies are brightly luminous and charge quickly in daylight or torchlight, then glow in the dark to draw fish towards the hook even in poor light or at depth.

Hooks are sharp Fudo patterns in size 8, a size well matched to the small mouths of smelt and other fine-biting species. The six-hook layout spreads the attractor bodies through the water column, increasing the chance of intercepting passing shoals. A swivel with snap is fitted at the top of the rig so that a weight or sinker can be attached quickly and changed without retying, and the swivel also helps reduce line twist during retrieve or jigging.

With an overall length of 1.5 m, the rig offers a generous spread of hooks while remaining manageable on a standard smelt rod. It is suited to vertical jigging from a boat, fishing through ice holes, and light bottom or float presentations where a multi-hook attractor system is permitted. The luminous bodies and sharp hooks make it a practical choice for anglers who want a ready-made, competition-style smelt rig without having to tie one themselves.
