Bassday Kobun 20F 1.3g Floating Surface Lure Trout Chub Fishing Bait

Bassday Kobun 20F is a tiny floating surface lure that closely mimics a real insect struggling on the water surface. Measuring just 20 mm and weighing only 1.3 g, it is a highly specialised presentation for pressured fish and clear, shallow water. The Kobun is a proven favourite for chub, and its insect-like profile and subtle surface disturbance make it equally effective for trout and other surface-feeding species.

The lure is a true floating model that dives only about 10 cm below the surface on the retrieve. This shallow running depth keeps the bait in the top layer of the water column where surface-oriented predators are actively looking for food. Even in flowing water, the Kobun works aggressively and maintains a lively, enticing action that triggers reaction strikes.

Despite its tiny size, the Kobun casts surprisingly well. The compact body is dense enough to load light rods and deliver accurate casts to rising fish or tight pockets. This makes it an excellent choice for small streams, narrow channels and any situation where precision casting is more important than distance.

The finish is another strong point. The colours are bright and applied with high-quality paint, so the lure stands out clearly against the surface film and immediately attracts the attention of nearby fish. The included treble hook is very sharp, helping to convert tentative surface takes into solid hook-ups.

The Bassday Kobun 20F is made in Japan and reflects the attention to detail and finish quality associated with Japanese lure manufacturing. It is available in selected colour codes, including 343 and 360, allowing anglers to match the hatch or choose a high-visibility option for different light conditions.

This lure is best suited to ultra-light and light spinning tackle. A slow, steady retrieve with occasional pauses will keep the Kobun working close to the surface, while gentle twitches can imitate an insect trying to escape. It is an ideal choice for chub, trout and other small to medium surface-feeding predators in rivers, streams and shallow lakes.
